Guest Bedroom Reveal

Our guest room started off painted in a bright yellow.  When I picked out the color, I had thought it was going to be a pretty, pale yellow.  Not so much.  But, after I painted the room, there was no way I was going to do it again, so we lived with it.  After we moved back into our house (read that story here), I repainted the room with paint leftover from our master bedroom redo
(Restoration Hardware "Silver Sage" color matched into Benjamin Moore paint).  The bedding is from Pottery Barn, and the pattern was called "Painterly".  All of the furniture was purchased at one time or another from Craigslist.  The furniture is all painted with Benjamin Moore "Glass Slipper".

Headboard Redo

I bought this headboard off Craigslist last fall.  I purchased it to use in our guest room.  I had already refinished an antique dresser in there, so I wanted to finish the headboard to coordinate with that.  I stripped the top portion of the headboard and stained it with.. you guessed it... Minwax Dark Walnut : )  Then, I taped that part off, and spray painted the rest of the headboard with a brown spray paint.  After the spray paint had dried, I painted over it with Benjamin Moore "Glass Slipper".  I then lightly distressed it to expose some of the brown paint underneath and sealed the entire thing with clear poly.

Master Bedroom Reveal

Before we moved out East, our master bedroom consisted of a cheap DIY headboard and side tables from Target.  While we were living out in Virginia Beach, I purchased a lot of neat, old pieces off of Craigslist and refinished them.  The first items I purchased were the huge dresser and night stand from this post.  I loved the size and height of the dresser.  I then purchased an old 4-poster bed that had an old, battered red finish on it.  I sanded it down to the bare wood, and stained in Minwax Dark Walnut and sealed with a clear poly.  After we moved back home, I purchased this dresser to use as our other side table.  I purchased the antique Mersman drum table in Virginia Beach and stripped and stained that in Minwax Dark Walnut as well.

I repainted the walls with Restoration Hardware "Silver Sage",  color matched in Benjamin Moore.  The new curtains are Pottery Barn "Peyton" drapes in French Ivory.  The bedding is Pottery Barn Bella Paisley and Vintage Ticking Stripe.

On a side note:  Our bed is so high that our dog can't make it up into the bed anymore.  And, I refuse to have pet stairs for her, so my compromise was to buy a bench at Home Goods to put at the foot of the bed for her to use to get up and down.  So far, so good : )

Hallie's Room Reveal!

Before we moved out east, my daughter's room was faux painted with shades of pink (back then she was just 5).  It was so cute!  The family that ended up renting our house had 2 boys, so we painted the room a neutral tan before we moved out.  Now that we are back in our home, and Hallie is now almost 8, she wanted to paint her room purple.  We decided on Benjamin Moore "Purple Lace".

I bought her bed a few years ago off Craigslist.  It started out knotty pine, and I finished it with an Ace off the shelf white.  To read more about her desk/bookshelf transformation, click  here.  The nightstand was a purchase I made at an occasional shop.  To read about the nightstand makeover click here.  I bought the "I Think I Can" print off of Etsy, and I love it.  To see this and more cute stuff visit Miss Jill McDonald on Etsy.

The bedding and curtains are Pottery Barn Teen.  For the frame above her bed, I simply bought a huge framed print at Goodwill, took out the glass and picture and spray painted it.  When it had dried, I used a staple gun to staple the ribbon to the back.  I used small clothes pins from Michael's to pin up some of her favorite artwork and post cards.  The rest of the artwork in the room is done by Hallie : )
