It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas...

This year, our Christmas decor is all about the greenery. I have used more live greenery this year than in years past. I love the mix of the greens with some pheasant feathers and some red twigs. I also used plenty of pinecones and birch bark and mercury glass. I found a beautiful boxwood wreath at Home Depot and hung it over our fireplace right on top of the tobacco basket. I found the biggest pine cones I have ever seen at Bachman's when I was shopping for my spruce tips. A very simple, woodsy Christmas : )

New TALL Baseboards

Last weekend we finally got started on ripping out all of our maple baseboards and replacing it with taller white baseboards : ) We also added a piece of window/door molding underneath the top board on the half wall.

Here is a picture of the main floor guest bath. I recently painted the vanity with Benjamin Moore "Coventry Grey".

A Set Of Chairs

This set of chairs came to me free from a family member : ). I decided to lightly sand them and then I painted them with ASCP in "Aubusson". I then distressed and sealed with clear poly. I also added numbers to the tops of the chairs.

Trim And Flooring Update....

Painting trim sucks. I can't wait to be finished. I am so.over.it. To take a break from painting trim, I decided to tackle a few more projects around the house:

Here is a before picture of our fireplace mantel. It was stained to match all of our maple trim which will now be white.

Here is an after picture of the mantel. I stripped and stained it with Minwax Dark Walnut.

For the trim, I am using Sherwin Williams "Extra White" mixed in their paint for doors and trim. I have been using a latex Zinsser Primer.

I also painted the inside of the front door the same color as the outside of the door: Benjamin Moore "Stratton Blue".

The only part of the painting I had to hire out was the window in our 2-story foyer. I made it as far as taping off the bottom of the window before I chickened out : )

Here is a sneak peak of the slate floor we put down last weekend in our mudroom/ first floor bathroom. I am currently in the process of painting all of the new taller baseboards : )

And, finally, here is the kid's bathroom vanity finished. I painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in "Duck Egg".

Antique Glass Cabinet

I recently acquired this amazing cabinet and had every intention of painting and selling it. But when it was finished, I really loved it and it fit perfectly into my family room : ). So, for now, it is going to live with me.

It started out partly painted a really pretty navy blue color. I went over that with a mixture of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Pure White and Paris Grey. I then distressed it and painted the doors and drawers with ASCP in Aubusson.
