Front Entry Update & A Furniture Project!

Awhile back I posted pictures of our updated front entry hall.  (You can read that post here).  Since then, I ordered more of the Pottery Barn curtains that I used in the family room and kitchen area, and I ordered a natural jute rug from West Elm.  I love being able to pull the curtains closed at night and have some privacy from the street.  I went with the Panama Jute Rug from West Elm.  A few weeks ago they had a free shipping day, so I jumped on that!

The antique armoire started out like the typical antique piece.  Lots of bubbling veneer on the sides, and it had a decorative piece at the bottom.  Unfortunately, I don't have a before picture.  I sanded the entire thing down and removed all of the bubbly veneer.  I went to Home Depot and had them cut wood to fit onto the sides where I removed the veneer.  I removed the decorative piece at the bottom and stained the top piece.  I then painted the entire armoire in Behr "Magnetite".  After the paint was dry, I used Minwax Dark Walnut as a glaze over the entire piece and then sealed it with clear poly.  The original hardware got a quick spray with Oil Rubbed Bronze.
