Vintage Dining Table And Chairs

This is a great vintage dining table and chairs I bought off Craigslist.  The table and 4 chairs came as a set, and the 2 captain's chairs I picked up from a curb alert from Craigslist!  I used Citristrip for the table top and captain's chairs.  The finish on the table top came right off and I stained with 1 coat of Minwax Dark Walnut.  The captain's chairs had a very strange black paint on them and they were very sticky.  So, I decided to strip them as well before painting.  I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in "Pure White" to paint the base of the table and the 4 chairs.  I then heavily distressed with a sanding sponge.  The entire set is sealed with a clear poly.  I bought the fabric for the chairs at Joann's.

After I "finished" this table, I folded the leaves down, and realized that I needed to refinish the bottom of the table.... it shows when the leaves are down : (.  I am seriously never doing another one of these tables!!!

  4. beautiful job with the table and chairs. I love the two-toned look. My table has it too. :)

Every time I strip or refinish a piece I say I'll never do it again. I generally do about 2 a year...never more!
